Emma英语- 如何使用强调成分 Upgrade Your English Conversation

Hello, I"m Emma from mmmEnglish!

Now I have to say I"m extremely excited about this lesson today.

大家好,我是Emma,欢迎来到Emma的美味英语!

不得不说,我对今天的课程感到超级兴奋呢。

Because I know that you"re an exceptionally dedicated student, so this incredibly useful lesson, is going to help you to take your English speaking skills to the next level.

The tips that I share today are gonna help your speaking and your writing skills sound much more powerful.

因为我知道你们都是特别专注特别投入的学生,所以这节超级有用的课程将会帮助你们,让你们的英语口语更上一层楼。

我今天分享的这些技巧可以让你们的口语和书面表达更加的有力。

So how are we going to do that? We"re going to use intensifiers.

那我们到底要怎么办呢?我们要使用强调成分。

We"re gonna use intensifiers to make your language more powerful when you"re talking about extremes.

So intensifiers are words that are added before an adjective to make it stronger.

当我们谈论比较极端的情况的时候,我们使用强调成分来让语言更加有力。

强调成分加在形容词之前,让形容词更加有力。

It"s simple, you take any old, boring adjective, like "boring" and then you add an intensifier to it. The lecture was really boring.

这非常简单,你可以选择任何一个老掉牙的形容词,比如说“无聊的”,然后加上一个强调成分。这节课真的很无聊。

See? I bet you didn"t even know that you already know how to use some adjective intensifiers. But "really" and "very" are pretty stock standard intensifiers, you know.

看到了吧?我敢打赌你甚至都没有意识到,其实你已经在使用一些形容词强调成分了。但是“真的”和“非常”这两个强调成分有点太老套了,你懂的。

They"re not really showcasing your English skills. Let me show you what I mean.

它们并不能显示你的英语能力。让我来告诉大家,我到底是什么意思吧。

That shop assistant was rude. That shop assistant was really rude.

那个店员很粗鲁。那个店员真的很粗鲁。

That shop assistant was extremely rude. Did you notice how the tone of each sentence changed?

那个店员超级粗鲁。你注意到每个句子的语调是怎么变化的吗?

It suddenly became much stronger as we got to the end, so the role of an intensifier in your sentence is exactly what it sounds like!

It"s there to intensify the adjective, to make the meaning stronger.

最后一句的语气突然变得非常强烈,所以强调成分在句子中的作用就是和它们听起来是一样的!

它们是用来加强形容词的语气,来让意思更加强烈。

And that, my friends, allows you to introduce more emotion and more feeling into your English.

Using intensifiers is gonna help you to enhance the meaning of an adjective, to emphasize a point.

而那能够让你向自己的英语注入更多的情绪和感受。

使用强调成分能够帮助你加强形容词的含义,强调某一个点。

They"ll also help you to sound really impressive, definitely when you"re speaking, but these intensifiers will help you to write more compelling essays and reports too.

So this lesson is definitely worth sticking around for.

它们也能够帮助你,让你的表达听起来更加令人印象深刻,但是这些强调成分也能够帮助你写出更加引人入胜的文章和报告。

所以这节课非常值得一看哦。

Now there are intensifiers that show high intensity, medium intensity, and low intensity.

And intensity is talking about strength, so there are intensifiers that are high in strength, that are medium in strength or that are low in strength.

强调成分根据程度不同,可以分为高强度、中等强度和低强度强调。

强调的意思就是力度,所以不同的强调成分可以分为高强度、中等强度和低等强度。

So we"ll start with intensifiers that are high intensity.

So these intensifiers are going to take your adjective to the extreme upper limits of the meaning of your adjective. They"re very strong.

所以呢,我们就从强度最高的强调成分开始吧。

这些强调成分能够让你的形容词达到其最高强度。它们的程度非常强烈。

And there are quite a few of these strong intensifiers to choose from. Extremely.

Completely. Absolutely. Utterly.

这有几个语气很强的强调成分可以从中选择。

极度地、完全地、极其地、超级地。

Totally. Entirely. Exceptionally. Insanely. And incredibly.

完全地、绝对地、特别地、疯狂地。以及极其地。

Okay so let"s test these out. Her daughter is intelligent.

好的,让我们来试一下吧。她女儿很聪明。

So this sentence is okay but to emphasise the point, we can use an intensifier to make it stronger. Her daughter is exceptionally intelligent.

这个句子其实还可以,但是为了强调一下这个点,我们可以使用强调成分来让语气更加强烈。她的女儿超级聪明。

Wow! She is very, very, very, very, smart. She"s been stressed lately.

哇哦,她真的超级超级超级聪明。他最近压力很大。

She"s been incredibly stressed lately. The exam was difficult.

他最近亚历山大啊。考试很难。

The exam was extremely difficult. The sound was deafening!

考试真的超级超级难。声音好大啊!

The sound was absolutely deafening! We are exhausted.

声音震耳欲聋!我们很累。

We are utterly exhausted.

So all of these intensifiers are at the high, extreme top end of the meaning of the adjective.

我们累傻了。

这些强调成分都是都是在形容词含义的最强烈的最顶端。

So I have a question for you.

If you"ve just eaten lunch an hour ago, can you use any of these adjectives to say that you"re feeling hungry again?

我有一个问题要问你们呢。

如果你一个小时之前刚刚吃过午餐,你能使用这些副词来说你现在又饿了吗?

No, they"re much too strong.

But what about if you hadn"t eaten since yesterday morning and that was over twenty-four hours ago?

不,这些形容词都太强烈了。

但是如果你从昨天早晨之后就没吃饭,现在已经过去二十四小时了的话呢?

Could you use any of them then?

Probably, because I think you"d be pretty hungry.

你能使用这些副词吗?

可能吧,因为我觉得你应该很饿了。

So write this sentence for me in the comments below this video.

Use one of the intensifiers to explain how you feel—you haven"t eaten for over twenty-four hours! You"re. . .

那就在视频下面的评论区写一下你造的句子吧。

使用其中一个强调副词来解释你现在是什么感觉——你已经二十四小时没有吃饭了!你......

Quick! Write it! But, please be careful.

快点!去写!但是,一定要小心哦。

It is possible to overuse intensifiers, particularly these high extremes, so your sentence can really quickly become too full of strong emotions.

And you"ll start to sound a little insincere.

很容易就滥用强调副词,尤其是那些程度比较强烈的,所以你的句子可能会感觉情感过于丰富了。所以你就会听起来有一点不真诚。

If this sentence was a person, it would sound like this.

The most unbelievably phenomenal thing has happened!

如果这个句子是一个人的话,听起来就会是这样的。

最令人难以置信的一幕发生了!

My incredibly brilliant and utterly amazing brother just met an extremely wealthy man who owns an exceptionally successful company.

That"s a bit too much!

我超级聪明、极其完美的弟弟刚刚遇到了一个钻石王老五,他拥有一家特别成功的公司。

这有点太过了哦!

So just take it easy okay? With intensifiers, less is more.

放松一点点好吗?使用强调副词,少就是多。

It"s better to have one or two really appropriate intensifiers than to have too many in your sentence, right?

Now, not all intensifiers are high-intensity.

你的句子里最好是有一两个真的非常合适的强调副词,而不是太多的强调成分杂糅在一个句子里。并不是所有的强调副词强度都很高呢。

Not everything in life is so extreme, right?

So we also use intensifiers to show medium and low intensity.

在我们的生活中,不是所有的事情都那么极端,对吧?

所以呢,我们还会使用一些强调成分,表示中等或者低等强度。

For medium intensity, these are really common ones. Really.

Very. Pretty. Quite. And particularly.

在中等强度的强调成分之中,这些是非常常见的一些。真的。非常。很。确实。以及尤其地。

So these intensifiers are not quite as strong and they"re not quite as intense.

But they are good to use if you want to emphasise a point a little, but not too much.

这些强调成分的语气并没有那么强烈。但如果你想要稍微强调一个点,

但不是特别地强调一个点的话,它们是很好用哒。

Your resume is impressive. Your resume is quite impressive.

你的简历令人印象深刻。你的简历很令人印象深刻。

Those desserts are good. Those desserts are particularly good.

这些甜品挺好的。这些甜品真的不错。

The movie was okay but it got pretty violent towards the ends.

And for low intensity, you could use "mildly", "relatively" or "somewhat".

电影还不错哦,但是结尾有点太暴力了。

而就低等强度而言呢,你可以使用“有点”、“相对”,或者是“有一点”。

So these are low strength intensifiers.

They"re useful to emphasise that the adjective is not strong.

这些都是强度比较低的强调成分。

当强调形容词并强度并没有那么高的时候,它们非常适用。

So imagine that you went to a comedy show last night and it was okay.

It was kind of funny.

Definitely wasn"t as funny as you thought it would be though.

想象一下,你昨天晚上去看了一场喜剧秀,还不错,还挺滑稽的。

尽管肯定没有你原本想象中那么搞笑。

So the show was mildly amusing.

Not much of a compliment for a comedy show if it was mildly amusing.

所以这场表演还算有趣吧。

如果一场喜剧表演还算有趣的话,这就说明对它评价并不是特别特别高。

So let"s compare intensifiers. She"s been stressed lately.

那让我们来比较一下这些强调成分吧。她最近感到压力。

She"s been mildly stressed lately. She"s been pretty stressed lately.

她最近稍微有点压力。她最近压力还挺大的。

She"s been incredibly stressed lately.

See how we can add meaning and emphasis to our sentence just by adding these intensifiers?

她最近亚历山大啊。

看到了吗,我们可以只通过加上这些强调成分让我们的句子更好地表情达意,更好地进行强调。

Learning to use them is definitely going to help your English to sound more powerful and confident.

So it"s time for your homework!

学会使用它们肯定能够让你的英语听起来更加有力量,也更加信心满满。

那现在就是你的家庭作业时间啦!

It"s your turn to write some sentences in the comments below this video.

We"re expecting serious weather conditions tomorrow.

轮到你在视频下方的评论区造几个句子啦。

我们很关心明前的天气状况。

So can you see the adjective in that sentence there? "serious", right?

So I want you to take this sentence and rewrite it three times in the comments with a high, medium and low intensifier.

你看到句子中的形容词,也就是“认真的;重要的”了吗?

那我呢,想让你们根据这个句子在评论区改写三个,分别使用高等强度、中等强度和低强度的强调成分。

Let"s see how many different sentences we can get in the comments together.

Well, that"s it for this lesson.

让我们期待一下在评论区一共会有多少不同的句子吧。

好的,本节课程就到这里啦。

And now you know how to add more emotion into your English and how to express yourself clearly and naturally using intensifiers.

So please do write even more sentences in the comments below this video.

你现在已经知道如何使用强调成分,让你的英语感情更加充沛,以及更清晰、更自然地表达自己。

所以一定要在视频下方的评论区造更多的句子哦。

I read them, I see them and I love giving little tweaks and corrections to make sure that you"ve understood my lesson correctly.
